In December 2022, Oasis worked with local enumerators to plan, and conduct a pre-assessment survey of 30 households in Kusumpur Pahari in Vasant Vihar D Block, New Delhi to understand their relationship and access to clean water by personally explaining each question on the survey, to ensure complete comprehension of the questionnaire. The Survey is available for viewing on the website under the ‘Our Work’ section.
From January to February 2023, the results of the survey were analyzed to develop a distribution plan for the Zero B Suraksha filters secured from Ion Exchange in the target region to best help resolve the sustained issues faced by the community and to ease their regular access to clean water.
In March 2023, Ion Exchange and Oasis conducted a comprehensive distribution drive of the Zero B Suraksha Filters across 30 families in the Kusumpur Pahari area, explaining the necessary benefits of installing water filtration devices, assisting with the installation of the filters, and answering consumer questions to ensure a smooth transition for the community.
Our Work
In May 2023, technicians from Ion Exchange’s team visited Kusumpur Pahari to gauge the impact of the water filter distribution drive, gather feedback on the use of the water filters, resolve any technical issues faced by the 30 families, and to demonstrate the way in which the filters should be cleaned to maintain hygiene and efficiency levels of the product.
Additionally, again in May 2023, in collaboration with Ion Exchange, we have conducted a central assessment of the Kusumpur Pahari region to understand if it would be useful to install a large filtration device in their community’s main water supply to increase the scope of the project to ensure that a larger number of families can access regularly available clean water.
Further, upon witnessing an interest in the larger community in the area, in September 2023, we donated 35 more filters, bringing the total count of families positively impacted to 65 — and at a later date, we conducted a post assessment survey to understand the impact of our work.
Additionally, we also donated 60 copies of the Spring Series storybooks to help young children become engaged in the conversation around responsible environmental activism, and the urgent need for collective action to tackle pervasive social issues faced by us. Furthermore, we also distributed 100 copies of the Oasis Pamphlets in Hindi upon understanding the significance and usefulness of these resources for the community!
